God is Good.

"…yet with respect to the promise of God, he[Abraham] did not waiver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform." – Romans 4:20-21"

This passage, as well as others in Romans have been ringing very true and very close to home to me lately – although  this passage is talking about the faith of Abraham in trusting God to deliver a son to him, it rings especially true to me tonight. I feel as if I have been in an "abrahamic" period in my life.

What’s been really standing out to me in my bible reading lately is the sovereignty of God – especially in light of recent events (moving and all that that includes). No matter how often I may think that I’ve got it all figured out, God always "one-ups" me (this is good).

For the last 4-5 weeks before we moved – maybe even longer – the preparation on our end was pretty much done but there were still quite a few unanswered questions that we had. For example, where would our income be coming from? When we moved, we didn’t have any source of income (unfortunately, money is a necessary evil).

We knew that God was opening doors and showing us that His will for our lives was to move up here to San Jose and to be a part of Crossings. We put our faith and trust in the Lord who is and will always be faithful to bless us, if we pursue Him with every fiber of our being. That’s an extremely hard pill to swallow. It sounds all well and good in theory – but putting that idea into practice is not easy, nor is it comfortable.  Jenny and I would be the first to tell you that when we put that theory to practice, there were many times where was could’ve easily turned back and stuck with the "comfortable" route – stay where we are. Instead, we decided to wait it out and see how God would be opening doors for us.

God never let us down.

He knew exactly what our needs were – and still are – and He and He alone has provided for them…all we had to do was step out in faith and put our trust in Him.  I remember many times on my drive home from work knowing that my last day at Topaz was fast approaching and we didn’t know what was going to happen when we got up here. I remember in the midst of those times pleading with God to show us what His plan for us was.

Not only does God provide for the very breath we breathe, but He provided us with family that loves us, friends who care for us, a church that is driven by an attitude of humility and community, things to fill our house and our fridge, and least of all, He has provided for our financial stability.

We are so thankful that God has shown His glorious magnificence to us in how He and He alone orchestrated this move.

God is Good.

P.S. – For those of you who are interested, we are still working on formulating our Emergent Church ideas…we haven’t forgotten about them…yet… ;-)
