Shopping at the Farmer’s Market!

Yesterday, Eric and I went walking down to the Farmer’s Market. It had been about a year since the last time we went, and I forgot how amazing the produce was there. We walked around and looked at everything, and we were able to taste test quite a bit! It was so fun and relaxing to get out and just walk around. Farmer’s Markets are great places to get organic produce for less than conventional prices! You are also buying local and helping the small business owners and environment in doing so! The fruit right now is particularly amazing!

We had some cash with us, so we bought a couple nectarines and a flat of organic strawberries! So many strawberries, but they are the most beautiful strawberries I think I have ever seen! Well, now I have a ridiculous amount of berries to use before they go bad. Last night, I made strawberry shortcake (the real kind with a biscuit type shortcake!), and we’ve been eating the berries as snacks and breakfast. I have a great recipe for strawberry tiramisu, but that might be too much since I don’t happen to have any marscapone or ladyfingers on hand. I’ve made a yummy strawberry cobbler before, and strawberry-spinach salad is pretty good too. I have frozen pineapple that I can use in smoothies, but these berries are too good to be blended into oblivion.

Help! Any great ideas?

A Commitment to Loveliness

Emma over on Charming the Birds from the Trees is hosting something called “a Commitment to Loveliness”. Here’s her description:

It’s time for another Commitment to Loveliness! This is a fun way to increase femininity and beauty in our lives each week without even trying! All you have to do is choose five things that you would like to work on or do during the week that will increase the loveliness in your life!

So here’s what I’ve decided!

1. Change out the summer quilt for the fall comforter. (and come up with some sort of plan for those bare walls!)
2. Take advantage of the end of summer and paint my toenails and fingernails.
3. Have a friend or two over for tea/coffee and strawberries.
4. Break out my fall table linens and decorations, and freshen up my home with them.
5. Begin and end each day thanking the Lord for something new.

Head on over to Charming the Birds from the Trees to read others’ commitments!
