Climate Smart

So PG&E started a new program in June called Climate Smart. It is an effort to curb greenhouse gases (GHGs) and help protect the environment, and we signed up! Essentially how it works is the consumer pays a variable monthly fee depending on their monthly energy usage, and that money goes to using renewable energy and/or planting extra trees/plants. The amount of money going to the green projects will counteract the same amount of GHGs that you have used that month and makes you “Climate Neutral”. Now I can just envision the cringing that is going on right now with women who work so hard to be frugal, but it really costs hardly anything at all. This month, it’s only costing us an extra $0.86 for the whole month, and that $0.86 is going to something that’s really worthwhile! It also gives us an extra incentive to be frugal with our energy! You can go to http://www.pge.com/about_us/environment/features/climatesmart.html to find out more about the program.

Oh, I how miss singing…

I was listening to samples of songs for the 3rd grade music classes I’m teaching this fall, and I decided to go listen to the samples of the CD we recorded with Chorale in 2005. Anyway, I had forgotten how beautiful the music was that we sang. I just thought that maybe some of you might like hearing the online songs. Only four of the songs on the CD were uploaded, but they are all uploaded intact as whole songs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Soon Ah Will Be Done (mp3)
Do Not I Love Thee, O My Lord (mp3)
All His Benefits (mp3)
Sleep (mp3)

I think the last two are my favorites. The group might be up here performing in San Francisco in October. Maybe I can catch them!
