I have been getting funny looks lately as I have told people that my deadline for finishing and sending out Christmas cards was Thanksgiving. I don’t know. I guess I always thought it was fun to have the Christmas cards for the entire season. This year, I’m making all of the cards by hand. In fact, I’ve fashioned the cards in a way that I can just close and seal them, and they function as their own envelope. It has saved a lot of money! Plain card sized envelopes are really expensive.
Anyway, I’ve done multiple different things with them for decoration, and I’ve included some kind of verse on all of them. Some are as simple as “Let it snow!”, but others are more intricate. Here are a couple of my favorite!
“It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so as Tiny Tim observed, God bless us, every one!” -Charles Dickens
“The rooms were very still while the pages were softly turned and the winter sunshine crept in to touch the bright heads and serious faces with a Christmas greeting.” -Louisa May Alcott
“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
-Dr. Seuss
