This week on the Menu 11/9

fall-leaves

So…..we ate a lot of leftovers last week. That means I have 3 meals leftover to use this week! It also means I got to use the extra money in my budget to stock up on toiletries and fun kitchen items like the crockpot liners that were on clearance at Target and Glad press ‘n seal wrap. Have you ever used that stuff? It’s incredible! We also were able to have some fun with desserts and snacks! Also, as far as my gourmet style, I’m back! I’m gonna number the meals since I’ve got 3 leftover meals and 4 new meals. Alright–here you go!

Leftover meals:

1. Sage rubbed pork chops braised in beef froth with marscapone cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, chocolate cream pie (this part is new!)

2. Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

3. Teriyaki Chicken bowls–teriyaki chicken, tea steamed broccoli, steamed rice

New Meals:

1. Herb & Romano cheese risotto with shredded chicken, sauteed autumn vegetables

2. Maple Glazed Turkey cutlets (one of my favorite meals and super easy too), leftover risotto, apple slices

3. Blue Cheese burgers (For those who don’t know, we are so blessed to receive free, fresh, organic beef from my in-laws’ ranch! It’s incredible!), carrot sticks

4. Harvest chicken salad–Organic mixed greens from the farmer’s market, sliced apples or pears (not sure which yet), diced chicken, candied walnuts, balsamic vinaigrette

New finds!

So I found a couple of greats this weekend!

First are the special edition Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s from Trader Joe’s. These scrumptious cookies are like Oreo’s with bits of candy cane in the filling. I don’t like to celebrate Christmas before Thanksgiving, but I can’t help loving these gems!

The second great thing of the week was finding the shampoo I use for sale at Big Lots! I have unbelievably finicky and dry hair, so I have to use good shampoos. John Frieda’s Birlliant Brunette ultra moisturizing shampoo is the best thing I’ve ever found. It’s a bummer because I can rarely find it for even $5 a bottle. It lasts a long time, but I still feel bad every time I have to tighten the grocery shopping in order to buy more of this stuff. Well……no more. I’ve found it at Big Lots for $2.50 as the regular price. I have to make sure to check when they have some because they don’t always have it in, but I can live with that if it means buying shampoo for less than half the regular cost. My hair will be happy too!

I’ll let you know if I find anything else that’s this good.
