Going Home Today!

We get to go home today!!!

I had a great feeling this morning when the amount of protein being released by my kidneys came back as negative aka nothing. (To compare, 36 hrs ago I had the second highest level of protein that the test could read, and I was on a fast track for a c-section within a matter of hours.) The dr this morning still told me that regardless of this news I would still be here till he was born. This was a little disappointing, but we just wanted to do whatever it took to keep Ethan healthy.

Well I’m not sure what specifically changed their minds, but my perinatologist came in this morning and said that I was stable enough to spend the rest of my time at home on strict bed rest and move my delivery goal up to 37 weeks.

With that said, I can’t say enough how much all of your thoughtfulness and prayers have meant to us. Things have turned around so drastically in unexpected ways in such a short amount of time that we can’t help but see God’s hand in it. And even though we know His hand would have been equally in a plan that included an early birth and the nicu, we feel so blessed to have this extra time for him to grow and mature and for me to be able to spend that time at home.

I probably won’t see most of you until after Ethan’s born, but feel free to email anytime. I’ll be machine and IV free, which will make contact much easier.

Baby Ethan Update

I thought I’d send out a little update about what’s going on with us and baby Ethan. (I apologize, but some of you might not have had this info before.)

So the labs that I was waiting for came back, and they gave me an official diagnosis of pre-eclampsia. This wasn’t a surprise since they told me that I either had it or would very soon. Also, the monitoring that they’ve had me doing showed that my kidneys aren’t handling this quite as well as they had hoped, so now I’m on bed rest probably until he’s born. On the upside, I have plenty of time now to watch cheesy daytime Christmas movies and reply to every email I get. :)

Ethan’s birthday (aka my induction) is still a bit of a mystery. The dr’s on my case are talking to decide whether or not they’re going to induce sooner than 4 weeks from now, but they only sort of have an answer. (update: I actually just got off the phone with my dr, and she said it’ll likely be sooner rather than later.) Hopefully I can rest and relax enough where they’ll let him stay put for at least 2 weeks.

Please keep praying for us. I’ve quickly realized this is just going to be day by day, and there are not a lot of answers. We’re not worried. We just get to take things one day at a time.

Much love to everyone, and happy thanksgiving!
